Profile

  • MIHARA Iwao

Born in Osaka, Japan, MIHARA is hearing impaired and grew up focusing on memory through visual images. Around 2001, after retiring and living in Kyoto City, he began creating paintings based on his own memories. Many of these depict the times during World War II, with some depicting daily life during the war and others vividly conveying the actual experience of the Bombing of Osaka. In his later years, he traveled to various places with his paintings to pass on his war experiences.
